Your Ultimate Guide to Motorhome Travel
Whether you’re heading out in your motorhome for weekends, planning your next big road trip, or living full-time on the road like us, this motorhome space is for you. We started our journey with zero experience — no camping, no towing, just a big dream and a leap of faith. Since then, we’ve travelled across the UK, Spain, Morocco and beyond in our American RV, learning it all the hard (and fun!) way.
Here, I share down-to-earth tips, honest advice, and real-life stories to help you get the most out of your motorhome — whether you’re figuring out how to plan routes, looking for the best campsites, learning how to go off-grid, or just want to know what works (and what doesn’t). If you’ve got a motorhome or you’re thinking about getting one, you’ll find plenty here to help you feel more confident and enjoy the ride.

I know how daunting it can feel when you’re new to motorhoming, campervanning, or caravanning. It’s a steep learning curve — trust me, we’ve been there. The urge to get everything just right, the endless scrolling through forums, the buying of gadgets you’ll probably never use (yep, we did that too). You end up overcompensating because you want to feel prepared, but it can leave you feeling overwhelmed, confused, and even a bit intimidated. That’s exactly why I started sharing what we’ve learned — to take the stress out of it for others.
I’m putting together a complete beginner’s guide to motorhoming that breaks it all down in simple terms — from what to pack (and what not to), to setting up your van for off-grid life, to our favourite campsites across the UK and Europe. My goal is to create the most helpful, honest resource I can, so you can feel confident, avoid the common mistakes, and actually enjoy the adventure — without the clutter.
My Top Travel Tips
- Tip #1 – Test Everything Before You Go Do a “mock” night at home or parked up locally. Try everything—turn on the hob, flush the toilet, run the water pump, and see what you actually use. You’ll quickly learn what’s missing before you’re miles from a shop.
- Tip #2 – Know Your Dimensions Write down your height, length, and width—and stick it to the dashboard. It’ll save you from stressful moments at height barriers, toll booths, or narrow streets where Google Maps decides you’re still driving a Fiat Panda.
- Tip #3 – Prioritise Internet We use Starlink as our main setup and a mobile router with a SIM as backup. Whether you need to check weather, stream Netflix, or load Google Maps—you’ll thank yourself for planning this properly.
